Imagine songs that were sung from mother to child one hundred to five hundred years ago. Passed on from the previous generation, never written but cherished and kept alive by their own mothers and grandmothers, who wanted to give them to their own children because they brought back nostalgic memories of childhood and a shared Holiday Season.

Most had no known composer, no written lyrics, but each carried a rich tradition. They probably varied a little from one village to the next or even from family to family. Being from different regions of France, each had different preoccupations associated with Christmas.

Note: Greensleeves and God Rest You, Merry Gentlemen were added because both have a modal flavor that complements the French ones and the Period.
